Welcome to the Township of Mahwah
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Township of Mahwah’s official website. First, I want to thank you for the privilege of serving as your Mayor. I consider Mahwah a very special place to live and am proud to call it my home. As a township, we strive to maintain our fundamental Mahwah values while staying open-minded to modern ideas and welcoming new residents and businesses. All of this, while preserving our vast parkland and open space. We are here to help you get acquainted with all Mahwah has to offer, whether you are a current resident, business, thinking about moving here or just visiting.
Mahwah is the northernmost and largest municipality in Bergen County, yet it feels like small town USA. Nestled on the New York/New Jersey state line, we are rich in history and our neighbors are always looking out for one another. From the original Lenape settlers to today the Township of Mahwah has certainly evolved over centuries.
Today, we are the proud home to some of the most prestigious corporations including Jaguar Land Rover North America, Stryker Corporation, The New York Stock Exchange Data Center, Volvo Car USA, United Parcel Service (UPS), and Inserra Supermarkets just to name a few. Our corporate neighbors are an important part of the fabric of our community by providing local employment opportunities and helping Mahwah maintain low taxes.
The Mahwah Public School District is ranked among the top school districts in the state and is an integral part of our community. We are home to Ramapo College and Lincoln Technical Institute for higher education. We’re also home to Ramapo Valley Reservation, Darlington County Park, and access to many playgrounds and parks across the township and countless historical sites.
Lastly, we’re proud of our nationally accredited Police Department, our dedicated volunteer Fire Department and EMS, local government officials and our township employees. They keep the town running and are always here to assist you. The safety and well-being of our residents is always at the heart of everything that we do. We want to ensure that Mahwah continues to be a great place to live, work, raise a family and grow a business.
As you can see, we may be spread out, but we have it all. We have a lot of work to do, and we’ll continue to work tirelessly to address the changes that Mahwah is facing, because that’s what we do. On behalf of the township, please feel free to reach out to me directly and I will always help you anyway I can.
Jim Wysocki, Mayor of Mahwah
