Tax Assessor

The Tax Assessor's Office is responsible for the assessment of all real property within the taxing district, and for the processing of deeds, sub-divisions, reviewing all building permits to determine additional value, and keeping up with map changes.

Due to Daniel's Law, as of January 12, 2023, all property informational requests must be made through the clerks office via the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) form


Assessments

The 2022 Assessments for the Township of Mahwah can be found on the New Jersey Association of County Tax Board website.

Chapter 75 Postcards were mailed around the end of January of each year stating the current year's assessed value. Taxpayers have the right to file an appeal with the Bergen County Board of Taxation if they are not satisfied with their assessment. Tax appeal forms (with instructions) can be obtained on the New Jersey Association of County Tax Board website or by calling the Bergen County Tax Board at 201-336-6300. The deadline to file an appeal is April 1, of every year.
