The meeting was called to order at 7:38 PM by Chairman Monica Ullrich. Members in attendance were
Todd Cochran, Ward Donigian and Jean Lascar. Also in attendance was Dawn DaPuzzo, Recreation
Director. The flag salute was followed by the Sunshine Law announcement. On a motion by Jean Lascar,
seconded by Ward Donigian, the meeting minutes of December 21, 2005 were approved. All in favor,
Stanley Spiech, Keith Hallissey and Ed Sinclair of the DPW will attend our 2/22 meeting for discussion
about items which impact both departments for budget and manpower in general and CSP and CP field
specifically. Monica will send him a reminder and inform BA. Ward suggested a check list be made for
each park site. Todd stated that someone needs to be held accountable for job performance; he wants
discussion to address ice skating at CSP as well as field maintenance.
Our budget meeting with Council is 2/1 at 7:30 PM in the Senior Center. There was discussion on what
items are not really recreation items in our budget, specifically the portable facilities which should be in the
P&P budget, but neither Admin nor Council has suggested a change. The annual quote will be requested
soon, should we add or delete any sites? No changes suggested. Monica spoke to MJ re: the stationery
and forms order. The current W-4 and updated employment form were submitted with last year's Summer
Rec forms for a quote. MJ will call with number of forms for 2006 and deliver disk with revisions.
Dawn and Monica met with the Police Department to discuss enforcement of CSP and skate park rules.
DARE will hold skate park registrations at the schools; the department will renew enforcement in the spring.
Monica e-mailed the BA re: Cable Channel 78 access, availability, contact and was told it is not running
yet, although Dawn has been asked to provide a list of events. Ward will contact Gary P. to announce our
Meet the Bunny, softball sign-up, etc.
Mahwah Day meeting at the library is Monday 5/9. The stage has been reserved, price has increased.
Geoff is reserved as the DJ. Dawn suggested something needs to be done to keep people at the field
between the band and fireworks, a perennial problem for which we have found no solution. Perhaps keep
the DJ to fill in, or Todd suggested a Mahwah Teen Idol type dance contest/talent show. A kielbasi-eating
contest was suggested, since Holy Spirit no longer does their fundraiser.
Old Business - John Spiech said the Environmental Commission has signs for CSP, wants a follow-up
meeting to discuss. Both Rec and Envir have a meeting on 2/22 in the MB and DPW will be at ours
anyway, so that would be an ideal date to meet for discussion.
On a motion by Jean Lascar, seconded by Ward Donigian, the meeting was adjourned at 9:03 PM. All in
favor, motion carried. The next meeting is scheduled for February 22, 2006 at 7:30 PM in Room 301 of the
