The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order by John Brotherton,
Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

APPOINTMENTS TO COMMISSION
Susan Golz was reappointed to the Commission on July 1, 2004 – June 30, 2007.
John Spiech was appointed to the Commission on July l, 2004 – June 30, 2007.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS/REORGANIZATION
This was deferred until more members are able to be present.
PROPOSED WETLANDS MITIGATION BY RAMAPO COLLEGE
George Wells of White Environmental, representing Ramapo College, presented a tentative plan for the proposed wetland mitigation for the area north of the Halifax Road bridge along the Ramapo River. We discussed this with him and asked him to consider the area south of the bridge, which is part of Continental Soldiers Park. He will modify the plan and resubmit it to us.
SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Memo to Administrative Officer:
“The following soil movement permit applications were reviewed at the Environmental Commission meeting on July 14, 2004. Comments are listed below.
Frassetto, S., 46 Chapel Road Bl. 156, Lot 18, E-BD-216-1664, dated 7/8/04.
We note that three trees will be removed. There will be five replacement trees which were described as pine. Please note that White Pine and Norway Maple are not acceptable as replacement trees. Approved
Nelson, Kevin and Kim and Trio Construction, 12 State Street Bl. 34, Lot 19, E-BD-216-1665, dated 7/12/04 – approved.
Dempsey, John and Lisa, 65 Malcolm Road, Bl. 96, Lots 39, 40, 41, E-BD-216-1662,
Dated 7/1/04. Why is the applicant removing eleven trees in the back of the house?
Baxter, Scott (Hawk Nest), Dkt. 443S, amended tree preservation application dated 6/28/04. The Environmental Commission approves the change in number of trees to be removed which is still less than the amount (423 trees) on the original application.”

Soil application for Whitney Road, LLC needs completed tree preservation form and/or tree count on plans.

Received various agendas and minutes. Received Summer 2004 newsletter called Watershed Focus.
Received information on 2005 Municipal Calendar from Administration.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J. John Brotherton will be absent on July 28th.
