TERMS ENDING IN JUNE
Susan Golz and Doug D’Anglo’s terms end in June 2004. Susan expressed interest in remaining on the Environmental Commission. John Brotherton will check with Doug. He has a conflict with Board of Education meetings on Wednesday nights.
TREE – FLEET BANK
John showed photos of the large tree at Fleet Bank which was damaged by a recent lightening storm. It had to be taken down.
Received correspondence from Business Administrator (dated 5/24/04) about the wetlands mitigation suggested for along the Ramapo River and the possibility of using fill from the college in that area. This was suggested by White Environmental Services. The Township is against using fill material in that area.
The following tenant applications were approved:
Kwangeuk Joo, 180 Franklin Turnpike, dry cleaner – change of ownership
Global Business Associates & Exchange, 40 Franklin Turnpike, auto detailing
Telecom Support Specialists, 777 Corporate Drive, communications system
SITE PLAN REVIEW
Hampton Inn (previous Wingate Inn), Dkt. 405 PF
Not approved. Comments to Planning Board:
“Our concerns are:
• Quality of storm water run-off as it flows off the property (toward Ramapo River)
• More details on the separator would be helpful
• Suggest diversifying the arborvitae hedge on the southeast side. We suggest the addition of some maple or oak (one dozen).
• Require a watering system for the extensive plantings.
• Perhaps the applicant’s landscape architect could come to our meeting to talk to us about the landscape details.”
Russo Dev, LLC, Dkt. 462A
“Approved. The landscape plan is acceptable.”
Rowayton Properties, LLC, Dkt. 473
“Approved. The wetland line and transition line on Lots 4.3 and 4.4 should be marked with concrete or steel markers (in accordance with our recent agreements).”
SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Memo to Administrative Officer: “The following applications were approved at our meeting held on May 26, 2004.
- Jorgenson, 163 Miller Road, Bl. 75, Lot 12.01, E-BD-216-304-350, dated 5/12/04.
- George Murad, 22 Copperfield Way, Bl. 123, Lot 17.05, E-BD-216-304-349, dated 5/10/04.”
Reviewed various routine correspondence, agendas and minutes.
ANEC grant application We have heard from ANJEC about the grant application.
The GIS work is approved, but ANJEC did not approve having Susan (a Commission member) do the work. Brian Campion explained to Kerry Miller at ANJEC that to have an outside company do the work would be much more expensive and unaffordable. It was decided to withdraw the grant application.
John will speak to Brian Campion about work the Township has contacted for a GIS open space survey (including information on slopes).
Public hearing, June 14, 2004 at 7pm at Bergen County Freeholder’s meeting room on open space and recreation.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J.
