WORK SESSION MEETING
December 11, 2002
A work session meeting was held by the Environmental Commission on December 22, 2002 attended by J. Brotherton, S. Golz and K. LaGreca. J. DeWan, secretary, was also present.
John Brotherton attended a meeting held recently in Upper Saddle River for representatives of neighboring town’s shade tree commissions.
John Brotherton had a copy of a NJ DEP brochure called Volcanoes Killing Trees in N.J. about over-mulching of trees. J. DeWan will order some brochures from DEP.

Both tree preservation applications are satisfactory.”
We received a copy of a Malcolm Pirnie first year monitoring report dated 11/26/02 on the wetlands mitigation from the Mahwah Swim Club site to an area near Co. 3 fire dept. The report will be kept on file.

“We continue to be concerned about the negative effect this project will have on the environment. We are concerned about run-off and retaining walls. The building should be designed to fit the existing slope.”
Received soil permit application for Home Depot. Review of application deferred until next meeting.
Received letter from DEP on an LOI request for Bl. 145, Lot 2 for Woodcliff Lake Development Co.
Received letter from Conklin Associates in reference to Kevin Simon, Bl. 21.07, Lot 31 which included an amended tree count.
The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 300B Route 17 South, Mahwah, N.J.
