TOWNSHIP OF MAHWAH
November 13, 2002
The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by John Brotherton, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

The minutes of the meeting held October 23, 2002 were accepted as written.
K. LaGreca stated she feels there should be an increase in the effort to recycle in the Township schools, offices, parks, fields, etc. Members present agreed. Karin showed envelopes she found for mailing ink jet printer cartridges to a company for recycling.
The following memo was written to Keith Hallissey, Recycling Coordinator
“At a recent meeting, we were discussing recycling ink jet printer cartridges.
We found some recycling envelopes in the local post offices. We are wondering if we should bring this to the attention of our municipal offices and the Board of Education offices.”
SITE PLAN REVIEW
Airmont Avenue Recreation Field – It was decided to defer review of the plans until the town gives direction on whether this will be done or not.

This site plan was approved, with the comment to the Board of Adjustment to make sure the sight triangles are honored (in regard to the landscaping, as proposed).
First Union Bank, Dkt. 429 revised landscaping plan
Not approved. Comments to Planning Board: “We are awaiting final plan based on the agreement at Planning Board meeting between Boswell, First Union and neighbors (Morgan’s).”
Franklin Turnpike Construction LLC, Dkt. 441A

Not approved. Comments to Planning Board: “We need to have NJ DEP approval of underground tank removal. See attached DEP letter of 10/28/02.”
Received letters from Conklin Associates and Boswell concerning the change in tree removal plan for Bl. 21.09, Lot 6. The following memo was written in response:
“To: Administrative Officer
Re: J. Destro, 22 Patrick Brem Court
Bl. 21.09, Lot 6 E-BD-216-239-341
The revisions to the original tree removal plan have been noted. We agree with Michael Kelly’s comments in his letter of November 5th, copy attached.”
Received memos on 2003 budget matters. J. DeWan will check with Denise Storms about status of 2003 budget preparation.
Received various agendas and minutes and professional mailings.
J. Brotherton will attend a meeting of area shade tree representatives being held in Upper Saddle River on Nov. 20th.
It was decided to cancel the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 27th (Thanksgiving Eve).
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 300B Route 17 South, Mahwah, N.J.
