The Summer Recreation Program runs four, (1) one week sessions beginning June 26, 2013 and ending July 19, 2013. Due to the change in the school calendar, the first two weeks will be “short” weeks. There will be no rec on 6/24-6/25 and 7/4-7/5. The program runs from 9am to 12pm. All children must be residents of Mahwah.
Important Dates:
4/15/13- Summer Rec Counselor Applications available in "Forms Center" and Mahwah High School.
5/01/13- Summer Rec registration forms are available in "Forms Center" and will be distributed to elementary schools.
5/01/13- In-Person Counselor Application Day at Rec Bldg from 6-7:30. Corner of Island Rd. & E. Ramapo Ave.
5/22/13- Deadline for Counselor Applications
5/22/13- In-Person Summer Rec Registration at Rec Bldg from 6-7:30.
6/26/13- Summer Rec week #1 Short Week (No rec 6/24 & 6/25- school is still in session)
7/1/13 - Summer Rec week #2 Short Week (No rec 7/4 & 7/5 due to the 4th of July holiday)
7/8/13 - Summer Rec week #3
7/15/13- Summer Rec week #4
MINI Rec is for children entering K, 1st and 2nd grades in September 2013. This program is held at Joyce Kilmer School from 9am to 12pm.
BIG Rec is for children entering grades 3 through 8 in September 2013. This program is held at Mahwah High School from 9am to 12pm.
The weekly fee for both programs are:
Short weeks: $25.00 per child, $15.00 per additional immediate family member.
Regular weeks: $35.00 per child, $25.00 per additional immediate family member.
Forms will be sent home with public school children after May 1, 2013. In-person registration will be held on May 22, 2013, from 6-7:30 at the Recreation Building at 70 East Ramapo Ave.
The Counselor in Training program is open to children entering grades 9 & 10 in September 2013. The fee for this program is $15.00 per week.
COUNSELORS: Applicants must be entering 11th grade, 12th grade or college in September 2013. Applicants must have CIT experience with Mahwah Summer Rec.
APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK ALL 4 WEEKS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT.
No applicant will be considered for the position with out the following completed documents:
1. Completed Application (application page only).
2. Completed and signed W-4 Tax form. Do not cut the tax form, fill in bottom portion, including your date of birth, phone number and circle M or F.
3. Employment Eligibility Verification form, Form I-9, starred area is to be completed and signed.
4. Photocopy of birth certificate, signed social security card, and school ID or drivers license. A total of three (3) forms of ID required, (if you didn’t work last year).
5. COMPLETED AND SIGNED WORKING PAPERS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW COUNSELORS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD .
You may pick up the working papers in the main office at Mahwah High School.
If you would like to apply in person or have your application checked, come to the recreation building at Commodore Perry Field on Wednesday, May 1st from 6-7:30pm.
Registration forms for the MINI, BIG REC and CIT’S will be available at the Municipal Building and on this website, in the "FORMS CENTER" on May 1, 2013. Application forms for COUNSELORS will be available at the Municipal Building, Mahwah High School and this website, on April 15, 2013.
