The Department of Human Services covers a wide spectrum of services, including counseling and referrals to designated agencies. All inquiries received and any assistance provided is confidential. Some of the other services we provide include:
~ offer education on many County, State, and local programs.
~ act as liaison to senior organizations
~ provide emergency assistance of food and necessities
~ make employment referrals
~ disseminate information on drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.

Access Transportation provides van service for senior citizens, people with disabilities and other residents unable to drive. We offer curb to curb transportation for doctor's appointments and weekly trips to the Mahwah Senior Center, Interstate Shopping Center, Ramsey Square, Midland Park Senior Activity Center and several senior daycare centers. Periodic trips are also made to Paramus shopping malls. A $1.00 round trip donation is recommended. The Department administers Mahwah's Affordable Housing Program and supplies applications for rentals and purchases of affordable housing units in the Township. Residents and non-residents alike may apply for affordable housing; income limitations apply. Applications are available at our office. For additional information contact Dorothy McDonough, ext 206.
