The Department of Emergency Services consists of the Ambulance Corps, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the Office of Emergency Management.
The Ambulance Corps consists of two volunteer companies, Ambulance & Rescue Squad #1 on Franklin Turnpike and Ambulance Squad #4 in Fardale. They serve the residents of Mahwah seven days a week, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, along with the three county parks: Darlington, Campgaw Ski Center and the Ramapo Reservation, and including 7 miles of Route 287 between Franklin Lakes and New York State.
The Mahwah Fire Department consists of 200 volunteers divided into five companies, covering all areas of the Township. Each of the companies specializes in a different type of emergency so that the residents can be protected under all conditions:
For volunteer inquiries all Fire Departments meet every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for Training.
