MEETING MINUTES MAY 26, 2004
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 PM by Chairman Drew Baumgardt. Members in attendance were
Westa Hannafin, Jean Lascar, Julia Smith and Monica Ullrich. The flag salute was followed by the
Sunshine Law announcement. On a motion by Westa Hannafin, seconded by Julia Smith, the meeting
minutes of April 28, 2004 were approved. All in favor, motion carried.
Fishing Contest at Silver Creek is this Saturday. The pond was treated last week, aerator was installed
today (pond was scummy on Saturday), fish will be delivered tomorrow. We will meet at 9 AM for
registration; two tables are there, two more will be delivered. Drew will bring canopy, supplies, cameras
and film and tackle, and pick up juice packs and ice cream later.
Memorial Day Parade is Monday 5/31, line of march is 9:30 AM at IHM Church on Island Road.
Summer Rec registrations are coming in, Counselor applications are slow.
Adult Softball second in-person registration is Thursday 6/3. Depending upon the numbers, it may also be
the cut-off date. Women are light as usual, but if we pick by 6/15 we will have practice time. Vacation time
is filled out on many forms this year. There are no rules changes, umpires may need refresher on rules.
Senior and Junior girls play at CP during the summer. 6:30 and 8 PM starts are ok if there are double-
headers, which Drew does not want. Tuesday and Wednesday are one game, Thursday can be two if
needed, but getting umpires may be a problem.
Senior picnic at CSP is Thursday 7/22. 7/8 at the MB has been canceled, per Susanne yesterday, Julia is
not sure of the reason. As of the Advisory Board meeting last Wednesday it was still on. Drew will speak
Drew has been leaving bocce sets out on Tuesday mornings for 10 AM, but yesterday the college used the
parking lot for graduation ceremonies.
Senior Advisory meeting discussed the trips planned, one per month through the year-end, and they are
interesting and varied. All programs will continue through summer except no lunches due to picnics.
Susanne will order paper goods and keep them in a separate closet for the club. Recreation appointment
is annual, Julia has agreed to be our liaison again.
Movie Nights need to be promoted. We could send flyers out through Summer Rec, but we should let them
know what is playing. Jean asked if we have new equipment, Drew will handle. Westa will mention it to MJ
and Karen. We can show DVDs as well.
Mahwah Day: Drew will speak to Miriam, BC showmobile will be changed to Hackensack, cost will be
different. Can we use CP lot for parking? Yes, there will be a mutual agreement signed that we use theirs
at night and they use ours during the day. Diane Homler wants a temporary permit from anyone with food
this year. There is a food conflict with Joanna Hannon.
Paddle Day at Lake Henry was wonderful. We expect to do in July on movie nights from 5:30-8 PM.
Cameras will be loaned to Westa for Senior Citizens Prom 6/5.
There is a luncheon on 6/17 in honor of Ann McCutcheon.
We will memo the Mayor re: terms expiring 6.30.04.
CP needs signs on the restroom doors, heat needs to be fixed. DPW promotion has been announced; we
can speak to them or we could send weekly e-mail re: what needs to be done and when.
Have water fountains at CSP been turned on? Yes.
Karen S. at the MB needs updated figures for the sports policy.
MHS needs more counselor forms.
On a motion by Julia Smith, seconded by Westa Hannafin, the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 PM. All in
favor, motion carried. The next meeting is scheduled for June 23, 2004 at 7:30 PM at the Rec Building.
