FEBRUARY 12, 2004 MINUTES
The meeting was called to order at 7:38 p.m.

MINUTES: Bristow made a motion to approve the January 8, 2004 minutes as read and Thornton seconded the motion. All approved.
Bristow made a motion to open the Public Session and Gioni seconded the motion. All approved. Public Session was opened at 7:45 p.m. Shanley noted that no public was present. Thornton made a motion to close the Public Session and Gioni seconded the motion. All approved. Public Session closed at 7:46 p.m.
In absence of the Chair, Shanley assumed the roll of Chair. Shanley had no further report at this time.
NEW BUSINESS: None at this time.
The secretary reported that Drago presented the MHPC 2004 budget to the Council. The MHPC is working on a temporary budget until final approval, tentatively scheduled for April.
Vasiliadis reported that he will look for additional private historic preservation grant applications that the MHPC may pursue. Kolva reported that she will investigate any possible State Grants for the MHPC.
LEGAL: No report at this time.
Wayne McCabe & Associates representative, Jeanne Kolva reported that Wayne McCabe & Associates have received the final approval for the Historic Guidelines text from George Chidley. Kolva reported that Bristow was the only member that had sent in comments regarding the text, and that the text is ready to go to print. Any further comments must be received by the morning of Friday, February 13, 2004. Kolva presented color samples for the book cover. The Commission approved of the color and font.

Russo Dev., Docket 462: Let the minutes reflect that Bristow made a motion to approve with no comment, Docket 462 and Thornton seconded the motion. The motion was approved with a vote of 5 yes 0 no.

DEMOLITION APPLICATIONS: None at this time.
Planning Board Report: Shanley reported that the January 26, 2004 Planning Board meeting had no historic issues. Vasiliadis had no report from the February 9, 2004 meeting, and Mr. Bristow will be attending the February 23, 2004. He will, at this time, thank the Planning Board for their consideration and cooperation regarding the MHPC’s Vista Bahn application recommendations.
Historic Plaque: The secretary reported that the Valentine House historic plaque has been sent out to Sewar for printing.
Quackenbush Barn: It was reported that farm wagon pieces are stored at the barn. Shanley will contact Drago about the status of the pieces and Gioni will contact Drago regarding reconstruction of the farm wagon.
Public Relations: Shanley will pick up the ornament receipt money from Mahwah Sunoco.
Moffatt Road Cemetary: No report at this time.
Mahwah Museum: Bristow reported that the fire house renovation has prevented usage of the Museum. The next exhibit will be Industry and Business, and monthly programs are scheduled. The Mahwah Museum is working with the Beautification Committee in regards to displaying signs at Continental Soldiers Park.
Shanley asked that the Commission please refrain from using the term “McMansions” in future discussions, and explained that the MHPC does not want to insult anyone.
Bristow made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Vasiliadis seconded the motion. All approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. p.m.
