The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by John Brotherton, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

The Minutes of the meeting held on January 26, 2005 were approved as submitted.
SITE PLAN REVIEW

The following applications were approved:

SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Memo to Administrative Officer:
“The following applications were reviewed at the last Environmental Commission meeting. Comments are listed below.
Shamilian, Bogert Court, Bl. 147.02, Lot 61.04, E-BD-216-1743, dated 2/1/05.
We note there will be four trees removed. One replacement tree is required.
Vista Bahn, 7 Farmstead Road, Bl. 23, Lot 55.02, Dkt. 461, E-BD-216-1744-1, dated 2/2/05. We reviewed the soil application. We are waiting for the completed tree information before we grant final approval.
Ofori and Petros, 5 Heller Court, Bl. 21.05, Lot 29, E-BD-216-239-381, dated 2/7/05.
Per Township regulations, the replacement trees should be native hardwoods. The pear trees may also be planted, but not as the three replacement trees.
The Danza Group, Halifax Road, Bl. 1, Lots 130.02 and 130.03, Dkt. 376S, dated 11/14/04 – approved.
210 Ramapo Realty, LLC, 209 Ramapo Valley Road, Bl. 132, Lot 4, BOA Dkt. 1101-03S, dated 2/8/05.
Has this site plan application been approved? We don’t recall reviewing it.
Hummer of Mahwah, LLC, 319 Route 17 North, Bl. 63, Lot 9, Dkt. 482S, dated 1/31/05.
We are waiting for revised plans which should address erosion on the southwest corner of the property. The stream bank needs stabilization. We defer comments at this time.”
Concerning the Hummer of Mahwah site plan, John Brotherton and John Spiech met with representatives of the developer at the site. They determined the corner of the building is ten feet from an eroded stream bank. The bank needs stabilization. The plans will be revised to address the erosion on the southwest corner of the property and will be presented to the town.
J. Brotherton reported $4,000. in budget for project at Continental Soldiers Park.
We haven’t heard from ANJEC about grant application.
Received copies of various agendas and minutes.
The Township’s Spring Newsletter is being prepared. The deadline for submissions is February 23, 2005. It is expected to go out April 1st. Only events after April 1st can be listed as upcoming events.
A new company, Lewis Tree Service, doing tree work for Rockland Electric.
ANJEC – Received application for 2005 Smart Growth Planning Grant Program. Grants up to $20,000. We will pass it on to B. Campion.
ANJEC – workshop, March 5th in Livingston on training to protect Environmental Resources.
Letter from DEP concerning Bolkema Fuel Co. remedial action report.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J.
