BOARD OF HEALTH
AUGUST 5, 2004
The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Health of the Township of Mahwah, held at the Municipal Offices, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah NJ, was called to order at 8:20 PM by President, Wendy DeSilva. The Opening Statement was read according to the Sunshine Law and was followed by Roll Call.

ABSENT: Mrs. Spiech

Mrs. Hallissey, Secretary
APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Moved by Mrs. Tracey, seconded by Mr. Harris that the minutes of the regular meeting of June 3, 2004 be approved.
There being no further discussion or corrections, the minutes were approved by all present.
APPROVAL OF HEALTH ACTIVITIES REPORT
Moved by Mrs. Tracey and, seconded by Mr. Harris that the Health Activities Report be approved.
Mr. Harris inquired about the status of the Watershed Meetings. Mr. Ostrow explained that the Committee was applying for a grant for a baseline study of the characteristics of the Masonicus and
Mrs. DeSilva inquired about the status of SHORECO. Mr. Ostrow
explained that the equipment was ready to go but NWBUA was waiting for a check for $25,000 from the State of New Jersey for the permit. Mr. Romans will correspond with the State.
Mr. LaMontagne asked about the odors at Acupac. Mr. Ostrow explained that Acupac was working on a contract with Avon for
Skin So Soft. A summons was issued.
There being no further discussion or questions, the Health
Activities Report was unanimously approved by all present.
HEALTH OFFICER’S REPORT
Moved by Mrs. Tracey and, seconded by Mr. Harris that the Health Officer’s Report be approved.
Mr. Hopper gave an update and recommendations on the situation at Ramapo Ridge School. (Correspondence attached).
There being no further discussion or questions, the Health Officer’s Report was unanimously approved.
Moved by Mr. Harris and, seconded by Mr. LaMontagne, the bills for June were approved.
REPORT OF ATTORNEY
Mr. Romans presented the Board with copies of a Newspaper article
from a local paper on Domestic Partnership.
Correspondence was previously discussed.
Resolution #04-11--Ordinance 04-114 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE
REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MAHWAH, CHAPTER BH:XVIII, SECTION BH:18-3 ENTITLED "FEES FOR
SERVICES" ON INTRODUCTION.

Resolution #04-12--IN SUPPORT OF THE PASSAGE OF NJ STATE ASSEMBLY
BILL #315, DESIGNATED AS THE "CLEAN INDOOR AIR ACT"
Introduced by: Mrs. Tracey
Seconded by: Mr. Harris
Roll Call: 4 ayes, 3 absent
As there were no further comments and no further business, a motion to adjourn at 9:15 PM was made by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. LaMontagne, and agreed by all present.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 2, 2004.
