HOUSING COMMISSION MEETING
Tuesday June 17, 2003
Chairman, Dr. Bernard Ross, who read the Open Public Meeting Act Statement prescribed by law, called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. Notice of the meeting was published in the Ridgewood News on June 6, 2003, posted in the Township Hall and filed in the Township Clerk’s office.
Minutes of the meeting are available from the Township Clerk, the Secretary of the Housing Commission and the Municipal Web site upon adoption by the Commission.

Present: Brotherton, Calandrillo, Martel, Plicinski and Ross.
Absent: Raiz, Snyder.
Nilufer DeScherer, Associate Township Attorney was present.
Plicinski made a motion to accept the minutes of May 20, 2003 Housing Commission meeting. Calandrillo seconded. Motion approved.
On a motion by Calandrillo, seconded by Brotherton the meeting was opened to the Public. Motion approved.
No Public in attendance
Calandrillo moved to close the Public Portion. Brotherton seconded. Motion approved.
All correspondence was reviewed.
A case went to Trial before Special Civil Court Judge Gaeta. After hearing all testimony, he ruled the plaintiff had failed to meet her burden of proof and the Mahwah Affordable Housing Department complied with the regulations of COAH
DeScherer reported their Firm was notified 389 Poet’s Way has been re- scheduled for Sheriff’s Sale on July 11, 2003. She will research the Township’s position on biding at the Sale.
On July 27, 2003 the Township will host a family picnic to honor all volunteers, if you plan to attend, please respond to Reed by July 2.
An Affordable Housing press release was submitted to local newspapers.
Housing Manager’s Reports
Report A Two units listed for rent
Report B Violations-owner has come into compliance, unit has a Sale Pending
Report C Tamayne sent letter to the Attorneys’, Mortgage Companies’, and Bankruptcy
Trustees, putting everyone on notice of the Township’s interest if any of the four units should return to a Foreclosure status. See Correspondence.
Report D Tamayne prepared a Resolution, to accept the proposal offered by the Ridge Gardens Condominium Association. It is to come before the Twp. Council at the Public meeting on June 26, 2003.
Report E Current balance is $622,130.86.
DeScherer’s Firm received a Motion filed on behalf of the former owner of 137 Raintree Lane, for remaining surplus funds being held by the Superior Court of New Jersey in Trenton. The unit was sold at Sheriff’s Sale on May 23, 2001. The Township did recover over $19,000.00 of surplus funds in 2001; after all concerned parties received payment, there was found to be a remainder in excess of $24,000.00 in the account. The Commission directed DeScherer to file an Opposition Brief by the July 11, 2003 deadline.
Being no further business Plicinski made a motion for adjournment at 8:30PM, seconded by Calandrillo. Motion passed. The next Housing Commission meeting is Tuesday, July 15, 2003.
