ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION

TOWNSHIP OF MAHWAH

October 23, 2002

The Environmental Commission meeting was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by John Brotherton, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.

MINUTES
The Minutes of the meeting held on October 9, 2002 were approved as submitted.

SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS
Memo to Administrative Officer:
“The following soil movement permit applications were reviewed by the Environmental Commission on October 23, 2002. Comments are listed below.

MYTY Construction Corp., 12 Stone Meadow Lane, Bl. 80, Lot 3, E-BD-216-1404, dated 10/10/02. Orange snow fence should be installed on the wetlands transition (buffer) line.

Dobriner/Darlington Assoc., 735 Ramapo Valley Road, Bl. 23.01, Lot 1, E-BD-216-239-345, dated 10/15/02. We need tree information on a completed tree preservation form.

Mallon, Michael & Santa, 826 Darlington Avenue, Bl. 20, Lot 15, E-BD-216-1412, dated 10/18/02 – approved.

Weidner, Robin, l Jackson Lane, Bl. 135, Lot 52, E-BD-216-1413, dated 10/21/02 – approved. Norway maples should not be used as replacement trees.

Yajnik, R & R, 2 Patrick Brem Court, Bl. 21.09, Lot 1, E-BD-216-239 344.
We reviewed the tree preservation. The application is approved. Norway maples should not be used as replacement trees.”

Memo to Administrative Officer:
“The following soil movement permit applications were reviewed by the Environmental Commission on October 23, 2002. Comments are listed below.

Bear Brook Builders, LLC, 1080 Ramapo Valley Road, Bl. 25, Lot 22, E-BD-216-1407,
dated 10/10/02.
We need the applicant to submit a completed tree preservation form. Tree information was entered on the plans, however, we feel there was a typographical error on the plans.
If 28 trees are to be removed, there should be 7 replacement trees. The form will give us more complete information, especially the type of species which will be used for the replacement.

Bear Brook Builders, LLC, 1076 Ramapo Valley Road, Bl. 25, Lot 21, E-BD-216-1406, dated 10/10/02.
We need the applicant to submit a completed tree preservation form. We note the plan states 41 trees will be removed and 10 will be replaced. What species will be used for the replacement trees?”


TENANT APPLICATIONS
The following applications were approved:
Kitchen Design Center, 1 International Blvd.
Mahwah Health Services, 180 Franklin Turnpike
Fuji Novell Batteries, 300 Corporate Drive

CORRESPONDENCE
We reviewed correspondence from Mr. and Mrs. Morgan concerning the buffer along First Union’s site. Also reviewed reply from First Union’s consultant on the subject.

Received plans for Airmont Avenue athletic fields. Defer review until next meeting.

Received various agendas and minutes from Council and Planning Board.


The meeting was adjourned at 9 p.m. The next meeting of the Environmental Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 300B Route 17 South, Mahwah, N.J.
