SITE PLAN REVIEW
Datascope, Dkt. 436 1300 Macarthur Blvd. (former Laura Ashley building)
Following our request for more information on this project, we received a letter from Technology Standards Associates, Inc. concerning the collagen reconstruction project at Datascope which is requiring this site plan application. Datascope proposes to process bovine tendon into collagen for surgical use as a clotting agent. The operation involves exterior installation of two storage tanks containing virgin acetone and waste acetone.

The following letter was written after review of the information:
“To: Planning Board / Board of Health
From: Environmental Commission

Re: Datascope Corporation
1300 Macarthur Blvd.

We have received the attached letter regarding the proposed Datascope operation and we have the following questions:

• Is this an approved use in the IP 120 zone?
• What are Health Department’s recommendations on the use of acetone?
• What air discharge requires a permit? We would like to have a copy of any reports.

We do not approve this application.”
